Cavaliers’ championship trophy makes a stop at CSU

Ever since the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA Championship in historic fashion earlier this summer, fans have had the opportunity to get up close and personal to the championship trophy.

The trophy, called the Larry O’Brien Trophy, made several stops throughout Ohio on its celebration tour called #AllForOhio. One of the stops was at Cleveland State University, when it visited the Student Center on Thursday, Oct. 13. From 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., fans waited in a line that went out the front doors to get a picture with the trophy.

Before it came to CSU, the trophy was at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. After CSU, it made an appearance in the Cleveland Indian’s locker room. The last stops on the #AllForOhio tour included a ride in the Goodyear blimp and visits to Ohio State University, Youngstown State University and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Cavaliers CEO, Len Komoroski said in a press release that a tour for the trophy around the state was for the fans who supported the basketball team.

“We are happy to celebrate winning an NBA Championship with Cavs fans across the state of Ohio who have been loyal supporters of the Wine & Gold throughout this journey,” Komoroski said. “Taking the Larry O’Brien trophy on a regional tour gives fans the opportunity to share in their excitement and thank them for being an important part of this special time in Cavaliers history.”

Fans can continue to celebrate the reigning champions as the Cavs defend their title this season.
