U.S. gymnasts featured at Wolstein Center show

The Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions tour stopped at Cleveland State University’s Wolstein Center Oct. 19, and presented a spectacle to the filled auditorium.

The event began with a video, showcasing Olympic gymnasts talking about their experience with how they first became interested in gymnastics at a young age. It continued with a montage of great moments in Olympic gymnastics.

The show itself comprises of varied performances from different athletes, ranging from tumbling and spinning, to jumping on trampolines and performing routines while hanging in midair in a cloth sling.

The large display monitor at the head of the arena lit up with images and songs to accompany the varied performances, as well as showing interviews and introducing all of the Olympiads.

Some of the star players include world acrobatic gymnastics mixed pair medalists Axel Osborne and Tiffani Williams, the gold medalists collectively called the The Final Five, comprised of Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian and Aly Raisman, and numerous others.

“This year’s Kellogg’s Tour is a welcome home party and celebration for the USA’s success in Rio,” said Steve Penny, president of USA Gymnastics. “Our athletes won the hearts of fans around the globe last month, and this is a chance for America to see them up close and personal. This year’s Kellogg’s Tour includes the biggest names in the sport, including three Olympic all-around champions and medalists from three Olympic Teams. The Kellogg’s Tour has something for everyone, from the very young to the young at heart.”

The event celebrates the accomplishments of the athletes of today and showcases the athletes of tomorrow, with local, young gymnasts joining every show.

Members of the 2012 and 2016 U.S. Olympic Team join the Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions that tours across the country and makes stops in cities across the United States from Sept. 15. through Nov. 13.
