Hallo-Hoops sets winter sports season

By Maria Ivanov

The Wolstein Center will host “Hallo-Hoops” Saturday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. to kick off Halloween with the women’s and men’s basketball team.

Children under 12 are welcome to come and participate in trick-or-treating held in the Wolstein Center concourse.

Along with trick-or-treating, the event features games, various activities and an opportunity to get autographs from the basketball players.

Each team will scrimmage prior to the trick-or-treat event. The Cleveland State University’s women’s head coach, Kate Peterson Abiad, will lead her team into a scrimmage at 10 a.m.

Following the women’s scrimmage, the men’s basketball team led by head coach Gary Waters, will then scrimmage at 10:30 a.m.

This event introduces the teams for the 2015-2016 basketball season.

Cleveland State women’s basketball team is proud to bring back seven letter winners from the previous season.

This includes some players that were out due to injuries. The team won 19 games last season, and were able to make it to the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT).

The men’s basketball team brings back nine letter winners, with 19 wins last season.

“Hallo-Hoops” is a free event and open to the public.
