Hot fun at Cleveland’s summertime markets

For local students or those staying in Cleveland between semesters, the city offers plenty to do to ensure that your summer is entertaining.

Cleveland is rich with art and entertainment and offers something for everyone. Between music halls and museums, beaches and parks and sporting events, the city will be bustling with activities. Cleveland is also home to incredible small businesses, filling up its diverse neighborhoods with shopping, food and drinks.

For shoppers, the summertime hosts bi-weekly and monthly markets. Every Tuesday, Lincoln Park is home to the Tremont Farmers’ Market. At each event, more than 40 local vendors and artisans sell their produce, coffee, tea, baked goods and other products to promote local businesses.

In addition to the weekly and bi-weekly vendors, the Tremont Farmers’ Market also includes a music series that runs in conjunction with the weekly events starting at the end of May. The market runs from mid-April to October 5.

Growing in popularity each month, The Cleveland Flea has transformed into a massively popular event downtown. Held in Tyler Village off of Superior Avenue, the second Saturday of each month from April to October is dedicated to celebrating local vendors. The flea market hosts more than 170 vendors and 35,000 shoppers.

The vendors range from local food trucks, artists, jewelers, clothing companies and furniture crafters. Nestled in Cleveland’s AsiaTown, the Flea Market has already kicked off its third season.

Hosted by The Cleveland Flea are two more monthly markets. The Sunday Market in Hingetown (Ohio City) is a smaller version of the Cleveland Flea, themed around brunch. The last Sunday of each month is dedicated to this scaled down version of the flea, featuring many of the same vendors as well as a few new, unique additions.

The last event hosted by the Flea is on Friday nights, called Night Market Cleveland. This food-based event is held in AsiaTown on Rockwell Avenue downtown. It can be described as a farmers’ market, flea market, food festival and concert all in one place. It is another event that promotes local Cleveland restaurants and artists.

The 2016 dates for Night Market Cleveland are still to be determined.
