Parking garages getting makeovers

By Ashli Speed

Parking garages across campus are being renovated to feature new equipment.

The garages will no longer be manned and patrons will be able to swipe their Vikingcard to gain access.

The changes to the garages include larger signage that can be seen from the street. Drivers will no longer have to pull in to see the name of the garage.

On Monday, Jan. 26, the 19th Street entrance to the Central Garage and the 17th Street entrance to the West Garage closed for construction.

Students can access these garages through their other entrances.

After being closed last semester for structural issues, the UG garage (under the Science and Research building) has been reopened.

Tania Anochin, a project manager from the Office of University Architects, said the goal is to have all garages finished by the end of February.

However, there have been some delays along the way due to weather. Parking updates are available on Twitter at @CLE_Parking.
