Police Blotter

By Kevin Liszka

“Dude, where’s my car?”

The afternoon of Sept. 8, campus police responded to a call at Lot 54, behind the Langston, about a stolen catalytic converter. The faculty member who called reported arriving on campus around 9 a.m. — car intact.

Upon returning to the vehicle that evening he discovered the box — valued at approximately $500 — to be missing from beneath the vehicle. Police filed a theft report for the man and advised him on his further course of action.

Also on Sept. 8, campus police completed a criminal damaging report for a student parked in the Lot 55. The young woman said she had parked in the lot overnight the previous weekend.

Later, she discovered her driver side window smashed out upon returning early the next morning, and property was stolen from the vehicle. Police filed the report for insurance purposes and advised the student on further courses of action.

Use the lockers!

The morning of Sept. 2, campus police completed a theft report for a student at the Main Classroom Building. The man reported that his smartphone was stolen while working in the computer lab on the first floor. The man was advised of his further course of action and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Use the bike locks!

Much has been discussed about using the lockers at the Cleveland State’s Recreation Center, but also remember to use your bike lock if you park your bike outside the Rec.

September 9 police arrested a man on suspicion of bike theft in connection with an earlier report of a stolen Pacific Voyager from outside the Rec.
