Police Blotter

By Travis Raymond

Breaking and hanging around

Campus police responded to Café Ah Roma at around 11:30 p.m. September 1 after a man allegedly threw a brick through its window. Officers arrived on-scene to find the suspect sitting at a table inside the café. An employee reported that the suspect had entered the café and began asking patrons for money. When he was told to stop, he walked to the window and broke it with a brick, and then sat down at a table. The suspect carried no identification card and refused to identify himself to police. He was eventually identified via fingerprint data and charged with vandalism, inducing a panic and obstruction of official business. The suspect was not affiliated with the university.

Disturbance, warrants and weed

On September 9 at around 11:30 p.m., a campus police officer responded to a disturbance at the intersection of East 22nd Street and Chester Avenue. The officer found a man and a woman having an argument at a vehicle. The woman reported that her passenger, the man, refused to get out of her car and that the argument was only verbal. The passenger was found to have an outstanding warrant. The officer arrested the man for contempt of court and discovered marijuana on his person during the subsequent search. The man was not affiliated with the university.
