Men’s golf takes second in Pa.

By John Cuturic

he Cleveland State University Vikings had two tournaments near the beginning of the week, placing thirteenth out of 15 in the the Robert Kepler Invitational over the weekend and placing second out of eight in the Red Flash Invitational on Monday.

The Robert Kepler Invitational, held in Columbus, put the Vikings up against some of the top teams in the NCAA, including event winners Georgia Tech. The Vikings’ top performer was Andrew Bailey--he shot a 67 in the first round and 77 apiece in the second two to place nineteenth individually.

After finishing up at the Robert Kepler, the team went straight to Johnstown, Pa. for the Red Flash Invitational. The team shot 288 and 296 on Monday, to put them in second. Tournament organizers canceled the second day of the Red Flash Invitational due to weather, so the Vikings came home early.

In individual results for the Vikings, Michael Balcar came in second for the tournament. The Vikings finished up 10 shots behind tournament winners Robert Morris University.
The next time the Vikings will play is April 25-27, at the Horizon League Championship in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
