Shoplifting Reported

On April 13 around 9:36 a.m., Cleveland State police responded to a shoplifting report inside the Student Center bookstore. The suspect was described as an Asian male wearing a black t-shirt, headband and jeans. The suspect left the store and traveled eastbound on Euclid Avenue. An officer in the area located an individual matching the suspect’s description and detained him. During questioning officers discovered a CSU sweatshirt tucked down the front of the suspect’s pants. The individual was arrested for theft and criminal trespassing.

Theft Reported

Police responded to a report of theft inside the Chester Building on April 14 around 9:35 a.m. Several students had left their backpacks in an unlocked office of the Social Work Department. When they returned to the office, they discovered their backpacks were missing. After the students contacted CSU police they checked a nearby dumpster and located the missing backpacks. However, items had been removed and taken from the bags. A CSU police dispatcher was able to locate a possible suspect using a first floor camera. The officer observed a middle aged, black female with a heavy build, wearing a dark green CSU Vikings hoodie and black CSU jogging pants, carry the backpacks separately to the dumpster and return without either bag. The students were able to identify their property on the video footage. The suspect was identified as a CSU student and was arrested for theft.

Open Container

On April 10 an officer on patrol observed a homeless individual sitting inside the Law Building with an open container of alcohol. The officer cited the individual for open container and escorted the person off CSU property.

Stuck Again

On April 10, CSU police dispatch received an emergency call from an elevator in the Business College. One individual reported being stuck in the elevator. Officers responded to the scene to check on the trapped person while engineers were en route. The individual was freed from the elevator after 30 minutes.
