Smart phone, not so smart robbers

On Feb. 4, at around 4:12 p.m., a female contacted police and informed them that while she had been walking in the Business Building interlink talking on her phone, a black male ran up and attempted to snatch her phone. The robber was unable to gain control of the phone. He then took off running and met up with another male. The suspects were later apprehended at a bus stop and were arrested on charges of attempted robbery.

Thief on the loose

On Feb. 6, police filed a report for a girl who was sitting in the Cleveland State Student Center with her purse and other belongings on the couch right next to her. A male sat down on the couch beside her and was leaning over. When she asked what he was doing he replied that he was charging his phone. The male then got up and left. Sensing suspicion she checked her purse and found that her wallet had been stolen. The suspect has not been found.

Cleveland’s dumbest criminal

On Feb. 7, Cleveland State police noticed a vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road. They stopped the vehicle and smelled alcohol on the driver’s breath, so they gave her a field sobriety test which she failed. They searched her before taking her into custody and found two small bags of white rocks believed to be crack cocaine — one grey rock of heroin, a bag of marijuana, and a digital scale. She was arrested and charged with a DUI, possession of drugs and drug abuse.
