Transit center now open for business

BY TRAVIS BARKER

RTA Transit Center

The $9.3 million Stephanie Tubbs Jones RTA transit center at 2110 Prospect Ave. is now open. The center sits adjacent to the South Garage.

The opening ceremony is to be held on Oct. 19 and participants include Gov. Ted Strickland, Mayor Frank Jackson, as well as several of Tubbs Jones’ family members.

The center was built in conjunction with CSU’s master plan and named in honor of the late Congresswoman, who was a supporter of the project.

The center will service the E-line trolley as well as bus routes 51, 55, 55F, 135, 251, 451 and 263. Transfers on those routes will now be at the new center instead of the current stops, which are the only minor impacts on the routes, according to Mary McCahon, RTA manager of media relations.
