NEWS BY EDUARTO OTERO A substantial update of the Cleveland State University e-mail system, commonly referred to as Campus Webmail, was implemented last month by the Information Service & Technology Division in order to remain compliant with the program’s developer, IBM. The overhaul, which took place on May 22, consisted of upgrading the system to Lotus Domino Web Access version 8.5, also known as Lotus iNotes, according to IS&T enterprise network manager Dominique Porter. The system was unavailable during the upgrade, which required 24 hours, beginning at 5 p.m. on May 22. Lotus Domino users are required to stay up to date to receive maintenance support from IBM, Porter said. The update is the third of its kind in Campus Webmail history. The new version features an improved user interface with tabbed tables, a renovated inbox with a navigator and an easy-access sidebar designed to make locating and working with documents easier. Another new feature allows users to identify spelling errors as they are typed.
In addition, the Notes and Domino Personal Address Book has been restructured into a more simplified contacts category with enhanced options. Refit calendar, notebook, and to-do categories have also been added.
