Cedric Jackson Sign Again with CavaliersFormer Vike Signs with Cavs

When asked about former Cleveland State basketball star Cedric Jackson’s 10-day contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers, CSU head athletic trainer Eddie Benion had this to say, “He owes me a steak dinner!” The two had a deal that if Jackson ever made it to the NBA he would treat Benion to a nice meal.

Jackson is the second Viking to play for the Cavs and the fourth to make it to the NBA at all. Read More

Area Youth "Jump Start" Careers

On Jan. 29, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law hosted 55 high school students from around the Cleveland area as part of a program to encourage minority youth to pursue higher education and consider careers in law.

The program, called Jump Start, brought students from Maple Heights High School; the Cleveland Academy of Scholarship, Technology and Leadership Enterprise; and the Upward Bound program at Cuyahoga Community College. Read More

Controversy Over Where to Buy Textbooks

Some controversy that erupted over an email sent out by the Office of the Provost about textbook purchases made the beginning of the semester a little spicier.

The e-mail, sent to faculty, pertained to the agreement with the Nebraska Book Company and read, in part, “the University is contractually limited in its interactions with other bookstores or e-commerce sites…respectfully, we ask all faculty to refrain from distributing any information to students except the CSU Bookstore about where students can or should buy their textbooks.” Read More


Rough Start for CSU Men's Basketball

Going into the 2009-2010 season, Vikings Head Coach Gary Waters knew that expectations were going to be very high since he lead his team to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1986 in March of 2009.
