Center provides day care to students By Maria Floyd There is a place where students can take their under school aged children while they attend classes at CSU. Quandrangle Child Care Center located at 3202 Community College has been open for four years and is accessible to the CSU community and also accepts children of students from Tri-C, St. Vincent Charity Hospital and area businesses. The center registers children around their parents class schedule, Barbara Katkic, district coordinator said. The center is open Monday though Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children between the ages of 18 months and kindergarten are accepted. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. At the beginning of the semester there is usually a waiting list, however as the semester progresses slots can become available. There are five classes with 12 youngsters in each class. Katkic said although there is a waiting list, most students needs are accommodated. She also noted it is easier to enroll a child if the parent contacts the center prior to the end of the previous semester. The cost is $3.60 per hour for children, ages 18 months to 3 years old, and $3.40 for ages three through kindergarten. Parents are billed on a monthly basis. The Cuyahoga County day care voucher program can also be used for students who need of financial assistance. There are no plans to expand the center at this time. Quadrangle Day Care Center is recognized by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs. The teachers have degrees and are trained in nurturing children. The center also provides laboratory services for people interested in studying early childhood education.
