The Media Arts and Technology Division conducts research in new media technologies and offers intensive training in the art and science of media technologies. Students in this program will receive a broad-based education on the role that technology plays in society, as well as specific skills in the burgeoning fields of digital arts and film. Students learn film appreciation, production skills in digital media, and a critical understanding of the role of technology in contemporary society. While computer science and engineering play a natural role in the design of digital systems, communication studies have the function of developing practical applications for these systems, studying their effects, and disseminating the knowledge to others.
