Qualified students can accelerate their careers by beginning graduate level courses in the fourth year of undergraduate study. Students accepted into a 4+1 program will begin graduate level work in approved courses for the 4+1 transition phase. Up to 12 hours of approved course work can be counted for both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. Students continue their graduate course work full-time over the next three semesters, including one summer, in order to finish their undergraduate and graduate degrees in five years.

Admission Criteria :

• Declared Communication Major

• Completion of at least 65 undergraduate credit hours

• Minimum 16 credit hours in Communication

• Minimum 30 credit hours earned at CSU (regular and transfer students)

• Must have Junior Standing  (65 – 89 credits earned)

• 3.40 minimum cumulative grade-point average

• 3.25 minimum cumulative grade-point average in Communication courses

 
Students must apply BEFORE completing 100 credit hours towards undergraduate degree.
Application is made by the end of the junior year.

Application Materials :

• A completed Application form, which can be found in the Graduate Catalog.

• Submission of two letters of recommendation from Cleveland State University Communication faculty

• A statement of intent describing how this program will enhance scholarly and career goals.
