Our mission is to enlist, develop and mobilize as many of our nation’s future leaders to grow and strengthen the movement for educational equity and excellence.  We believe that one day, all children will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education.

Education and Outreach

We recruit and select extremely talented and diverse individuals to teach for a minimum of two years (whom we call corps members) in low-income public schools across Greater Cleveland.

We provide extensive training and support so our teachers can have an immediate positive impact on students while deepening their own understanding of what it takes to dramatically increase student achievement and access to opportunities.

We provide ongoing development for our alumni, those who have completed their initial two-year commitment, who apply themselves to every effort and in every place where leadership is needed, particularly working to eliminate the root causes of inequity in the education ecosystem.

We currently support 100 corps members (teachers in the midst of their 2-year commitment) and nearly 300 alumni of Teach For America in the region.

Our teachers are employees of schools and we have teachers in CMSD, Breakthrough Charter Schools, Stepstone Academy, Maple Heights Schools and Lorain City Schools.

Our teachers are in approximately forty PK – 12 schools.

We also have a civic mentoring program through Encore Cleveland and the Cleveland Foundation. This provides individuals 50 and older with opportunities to engage with our teachers to help them develop professional skills and connect with the community.
