Taking its name from the classical god of music and the sun, Apollo’s Fire was founded in 1992 by Jeannette Sorrell and is dedicated to engaging widespread audiences in 17th and 18th-century music on period instruments, and unites a select pool of early-music specialists from across North America and Europe. The ensemble has been praised internationally for stylistic freshness and buoyancy, technical excellence, and creative programming. Committed to educational and outreach activities, Apollo’s Fire frequently presents concerts at unconventional venues throughout Northeast Ohio.
