Diverse Inclusion in Arts Education
There are a myriad of reasons, including financial and staffing constraints and program design, why minority and immigrant groups may not experience the full richness of participation in arts education programs. Panelists from Cleveland’s African American, Asian and Hispanic populations will share expectations, needs, and experiences in community participation, education and the arts to guide arts education professionals in planning and presenting meaningful, inclusive arts education programs.
Joy Roller, new President of Global Cleveland and former Executive Director of the Gordon Square Arts District, will moderate the discussion with the following six panelists:
Dr. Marilyn S. Mobley, Vice President of Inclusion, Diversity & Equal Opportunity at CWRU
Akil Marshall, Executive Director of Dance Afrika Dance
Michael Byun, Executive Director of Asian Services in Action
Matthew Hashiguchi, Documentary Filmmaker
Juan Molina Crespo, Executive Director of Hispanic Alliance Inc.
Augusto Bordelois, of Augusto Fine Art Studio and Art Center
