The Ninth Annual Office of Minority Affairs and Community Relations Urban Community Forum:"The Reality and Responsibility of Parenting: Challenges and Opportunities for African American Families"

A forum with Laura Ann Williams, Magistrate, Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court, as the Opening Plenary Speaker and Panel discussions on Diversity of Parenting Experiences, Teen Parenting, and Community Resources for Parents and Families. Also, there will be activities for attendees' children (ages 3 and over). This event is free and open to the public

The Black Studies Ambassadors will host Tomorrow's Scientistists Technicians & Managers (TSTM) Program from Peoria, Illinois, and introduce approximately 55 students (grades 6-8) to a college education at Cleveland State University with a workshop and tour of the campus. Their experience will conclude with a tour extending into the Greater Cleveland community and culminating at Randall Park Mall.

A Kuumba Arts Presentation will host auditions in the Howard A. Mims African American Cultural Center for the staged readings for "A Beaconing in the FOG: The George Fraser Story" and the stage version of "Sister, I'm Sorry," which was originally produced by Greg Huskisson as a documentary featuring nationally recognized actors like Blair Underwood. Both of these plays are works-in-progress by playwright Prester Pickett, M.F.A. and will be discussed for full productions during the next production season.
