Communication

Carol Lindley (’07 BA Communication) was selected for the Downtown Cleveland Alliance City Advocate Program, class of 2010-11.  The City Advocate Program brings together a diverse group of young professionals who are eager to play a role in the revitalization and progress of downtown Cleveland.  Carol is a sales coordinator for the InterContinental Hotel.

Celeste Cappotto (’06 MA Communication Theory) to Director of Development, Seton Catholic School of Hudson.

Helen Curak (’01 BA Communication) is a Marketing Coordinator at the Cleveland Clinic Euclid Hospital.

Peter Chakerian (’95 BA Communication) is the author of Pop Goes Cleveland (Cleveland Landmarks Press) celebrating the relationship between the region and its residents. Chakerian is the managing editor of the e-newsletter CoolCleveland.com.

Jean Ann Guliano (’90 BA Communication) was the focus of The Providence Journal’s article “Moderate Party hopeful: Spend more on education.” Jean Ann  is running for the office of lieutenant governor in Rhode Island.

Kathy Leavenworth (’89 BA Communication) was appointed by Ohio Governor Ted Strickland to the State Board of Education. She was sworn in to her position in December, 2009.

Anita Dloniak (’79 BA Communication) was interviewed in the Plain Dealer feature, “My Cleveland with Sarah Crump,” in the article “Broadway press agent Anita Dloniak prefers hometown to New York.”

Political Science

Daniel Langshaw (’09 BA Political Science) was elected to the North Royalton school board. He is the youngest resident to be elected in the city and was sworn in on January 11.

Manar Elkurd (’93 BA International Relations) is a Realtor at Howard Hanna, Akron, Ohio.

Tina Haddad (’82 BA Political Science) was named a woman of note by Crain’s Cleveland Business. She was one of twelve included in their July, 2009 feature, “Women of Note” that recognized those who make our community a better place. Haddad is the President of R-H Industries, Inc.

 

Sociology

Alexis Korovich (’09 BS Criminology) is a paralegal with the Law Offices of Blake Field.

 

Social Work

Kevinee Gilmore (’09 BA Social Work) was a panelist at an event hosted by The Adoption Network Cleveland on February 17 called “Kinship Care and Adoption.”

Sharon Douglass ('98 BA Social Work) has been a case manager for mental health for 5+ years when she went into geriatric homecare case management.

Congratulations to Bertha Frieson on her recent retirement from the U.S. Postal Service as a Safety Specialist.  Bertha, a Viking for Life, earned a BA in Social Work (’82), MS in Urban Studies (’88), Masters of Education (’93), and an Academic Certificate in Management and Labor Relations from the College of Business.
