Take Slovenian as a Foreign Language!

Cleveland State University


MLA 196 50, Begin Slovenian II, (4 credits) Monday & Wednesday 6:00 – 7:50 pm
Prerequisites: Beginning Slovenian I or permission of the instructor. The class continues the overview of basic Slovenian grammar, vocabulary and culture. Students will learn to understand a range of simple spoken and written texts and to carry out a variety of communicative functions. Communication is mainly confined to understanding and forming simple texts and simple dialogues. From authentic or shortened Slovene texts, students will acquire basic information about Slovene culture, politics, society, and current events in the area of arts and literature.

MLA 296 50, Intermediate Slovenian II, (4 credits) Monday & Wednesday 6:00 – 7:50 pm
Prerequisites: Intermediate Slovenian I or permission of the instructor.

Registration ends January 22, 2010. As an extra incentive for those with empty nests, at CSU, students over the age of 60 may take these Slovenian Language classes at no cost except for the textbooks.

SLOV 1002, Elementary Slovenian II, (4 credits) Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 – 7:50 pm
Prerequisite: SLOV 1001 or permission of instructor. This course is a continuation of SLOV 1001 Elementary Slovenian I. It continues the overview of basic Slovenian grammar, vocabulary and culture. Students will learn to understand a range of simple spoken and written texts and to carry out a variety of communicative functions (praising, inviting, addressing, promising, etc.). Communication is mainly confined to understanding and forming simple texts and simple dialogues. From authentic or shortened Slovene texts, students will acquire basic information about Slovene culture, politics, society, and current events in the area of arts and literature. (4 contact hours)

Registration at LCC ends January 25th.

 

Note: The beginner’s class is the same in both institutions, even if named differently. Some Scholarships are available.
