We are happy to inform you that 4 courses in Slovenian language are offered this year at Cleveland State University or Lakeland Community College! Invite your friends and colleagues to join our big Slovenian language family by taking only of these classes below.
Cleveland State University:
Beginning Slovenian (4 CP) | M, W from 4:00 – 6:50 pm
The class is an overview of basic Slovenian grammar, vocabulary and culture. Students will learn to understand a range of simple spoken and written texts and to carry out a variety of communicative functions. Communication is mainly confined to understanding and forming simple texts and simple dialogues. From authentic or shortened Slovene texts, students will acquire basic information about Slovene culture, politics, society, and current events in the area of arts and literature. We'll be using the ABC 123 Gremo! textbook.
Advanced Slovenian (4 CP) | M, W from 6:00 – 7:50 pm
This is a class that went though 2 years of Slovenian at CSU or LCC. Also this class is suitable for any that want to brush up their Slovenian, and they couldn't before, as the language was too rudimentary for them. We will be using the Slovenska beseda v živo 2 textbook.
Lakeland Community College:
Beginning Slovenian (4 CP) | T, Th from 6:00 – 7:50 pm
The class is an overview of basic Slovenian grammar, vocabulary and culture. Students will learn to understand a range of simple spoken and written texts and to carry out a variety of communicative functions. Communication is mainly confined to understanding and forming simple texts and simple dialogues. From authentic or shortened Slovene texts, students will acquire basic information about Slovene culture, politics, society, and current events in the area of arts and literature. We'll be using the ABC 123 Gremo! textbook.
Intermediate Slovenian (3 CP) | T, Th from 8:00 – 9:15 pm
Prerequisites: Beginning Slovenian I or permission of the instructor. The class continues the overview of basic Slovenian grammar, vocabulary and culture. Students will learn to understand a range of simple spoken and written texts and to carry out a variety of communicative functions. Communication is mainly confined to understanding and forming simple texts and simple dialogues. From authentic or shortened Slovene texts, students will acquire basic information about Slovene culture, politics, society, and current events in the area of arts and literature. All who speak one of the Slavonic languages and all who finished Slovenian 1 can join this class. We'll be using the Gremo Naprej! textbook.
