Knowledge of Subject Matter and Inquiry


The CSU teacher education student understands content, disciplinary concepts, and tools of inquiry related to the development of an educated person.

2.1 Teachers know the content they teach and use their knowledge of content-specific concepts, assumptions and skills to plan instruction.

2.4 Teachers understand the relationship of knowledge within the discipline to other content areas.

The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline(s) he or she teaches and can create learning experiences that make these aspects of the subject matter meaningful for students.
