Conflict Resolution Education in Teacher Education (CRETE)
Awards and Honors
In partnership with Temple University, CSU has been selected to participate in a national pilot project on Conflict Resolution Education in Teacher Education (CRETE) funded by the George Gund Foundation, the US Department of Education, and the Ohio Commission on Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management.
The project recognizes that good classroom management depends on recognizing and practicing critical skills that lead to a classroom that is a respectful, non-confrontational, and caring community.
Training is currently being provided to all interested faculty, staff and students throughout the college. Students are encouraged to participate in a five day training spread out over the semester which provides a foundation for the project, while faculty and staff are being trained to infuse the CRETE curriculum throughout all licensure area courses.
Participants receive a resource guide that contains literally thousands of standards-based lesson plans and activities that can be implemented across content areas. CSU students who have participated in the training have raved about the practicality and value of the experience.
We also welcome mentor teachers to particpate in the training.
