LABS & CLINICS

Computer Labs

Because computer skills and knowledge are so crucial to professional success in today's world, the College of Education provides opportunities to work and learn in state of the art computer labs. These labs, staffed with experts and equipped with both "MAC" and "PC" computers and a wide variety of the latest educational and productivity software, are used to teach computer courses and to provide work and self-study opportunities. For more information contact Mr. George Walker at (216) 687-6928.

Education Services Center (ESC)

The ESC serves as the clinical arm for training of Reading and Learning Disabilities specialists in the College. This ESC is a clinic for persons of elementary age through adulthood, who have difficulty with reading and/or mathematics. Experiences in the ESC include making diagnostic evaluations, serving as remedial tutors, and making recommendations for additional services. For more information call the ESC at (216) 687-4768.

Human Performance Lab

Housed in the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, The Human Performance Lab contains a variety of modern equipment for evaluating and improving physiological functions. Students learn to use the equipment in their courses and then apply it in working with others and in conducting research projects. For more information contact Dr. Kenneth Sparks at (216) 687-4831.

The Learning Resource Center (LRC)

In the LRC, students learn to use technology to enhance their effectiveness as a teacher. Hands-on instruction and experiences are provided with computers and with a variety of other equipment used to produce and make audiovisual presentations. For more information contact Mr. Dennis DeCoulo at (216) 687-3767.

Micro Teaching Labs

These labs provide the opportunity for students to teach others and then reflect on their teaching by analyzing videotapes of their lessons. Thus, students are able to sharpen their instructional skills in "practice" environments before stepping into field experiences in the schools. For more information contact the Department of Curriculum and Foundations at (216) 687-4577.

Motor Development Center

Housed in the Department of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance, The Motor Development Center provides opportunities for physical education majors to work with individuals in the community with moderate to severe disabilities. Such experiences are crucial to success as a professional working in an inclusive environment. For more information, contact Dr. Michael Loovis at (216) 687-4879.
