Dr. Daniel Keenan Jr., Superintendent of the Westlake City School District, will receive one of the 2012 Cleveland State University Distinguished Alumni Awards. The awards are an annual event that brings together members of the Cleveland State community to recognize award recipients’ tremendous service, achievements and dedication.Dr. Keenan earned his Ph.D. in Urban Education from Cleveland State University in 2005. He was nominated by faculty, colleagues and selected by members of the University Distinguished Alumni Board composed of faculty, staff, student and alumni representatives.

Dr. Keenan is being recognized for his extraordinary service as an educator and community leader. A nominator describes his energy and dedication: “Dan's leadership exemplifies a commitment to humanity as well as excellence in his own personal achievements. As superintendent of West Lake City Schools, Dan consistently meets the challenges of leading our school district toward the community's shared vision of excellence. He has proven himself to be a leader who is committed to bringing together the disparate interests influencing the success of our school district for the common purpose of providing every Westlake student with the opportunity to succeed in our schools and beyond graduation.”

Dr. Keenan will be honored at the CSU Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony on Friday October 12, 6:45 pm
