2009 COEHS Partnership Conference
We are pleased to have you visit the website of the CSU Conference on Health Across the Life Span. CSU’s College of Education and Human Services has been sponsoring a Partnership Conference to highlight programs conducted by university faculty and community partners. The focus of this Sixth Annual Conference is Health Across the Life Span. We will delve into programs that promote the physical, mental and spiritual health of children, youth and adults in Northeast Ohio.
The 2009 Conference will take place at the Holiday Inn-Cleveland South on Friday, February 20, 2009. The conference will also be the occasion to confer the 2009 Annual Partnership Awards and Alumni Awards. The participants are school aged youth, university students, faculty and community members.
The day will start with a continental breakfast served beginning at 7:30am and is filled with cutting-edge information and outstanding speakers through its conclusion at 3:00pm. Previous conferences have attracted about 350 people, including university students and faculty, K-12 practicing teachers, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, CSU alumni, parents, community leaders, and representatives of non-profit and business organizations. We anticipate an equally enthusiastic response to this year’s program.
The morning keynote speaker will be Gina Smith, one of the best-known commentators on technology and science today. She is the New York Times bestselling author of iWOZ: How I Invented the Personal Computer, the biography of Steve Wozniak. Her presentation will cover another one of her popular books, Genomics, and is titled “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About DNA but Were Afraid to Ask.”
Dr. Paul Nussbaum is our guest speaker for the conference luncheon, who will discuss “Brain Health Across the Life Span.” Paul Nussbaum, PhD, is a neurophychologist who specialized in teaching the nation about the human brain and brain health. His “Brain Health Lifestyle” is explained in a fun, informative and personalized style that resonates with every audience. Dr. Nussbaum is frequently invited to speak nationally and appear as a media guest. More information can be found on his website www.paulnussbaum.com
Participants can select from over a dozen breakout sessions which will highlight approaches to physical, mental and spiritual health for children, youth and adults. Please take a look at the schedule on this website for details about all workshops so you can choose those which best align with your interests.
You can clearly see that this conference is a great value for the minimal cost of only $65.
Application for Continuing Education credit for various health professionals is in process. Check this website for updates. Teachers will also receive certificates of attendance.
You’ll be surprised at how much you have learned by the close of the conference. We look forward to your participation at the sixth annual CSU Partnership Conference.
