M.Ed. Exit requirement: Comprehensive examination, project or thesis

Practicum
(120 hours)
Students must complete a Teaching Practicum under the supervision of a certified TESOL mentor and a University professor. The practicum consists of 120 hours of observation and teaching in an English as a Second Language classroom in a variety of settings, depending on the interest of the candidate.

Practicum Waiver
Students may petition to waive the practicum requirement provided they have taught ESL for a minimum of 2 years within the last 5 years. However, if granted, the student must substitute a three credit –hour course to meet the credit hour requirements
