Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)

TESOL Endorsement - Graduate Program

(21 credits total)

Candidates for the TESOL endorsement must complete all of the TESOL Specialization courses and pass the Praxis II Specialty Test, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. This option is available only to individuals who already have a valid provisional, professional or permanent teaching certificate or license. All courses are cross-listed and can be taken at either undergraduate or graduate level.

The requirement for the TESOL Graduate endorsement includes the completion of the following courses:

  • EDC 500 - Diversity in Educational Settings
  • EDL 506 - Second Language Learning and Pedagogy
  • EDL 507 - TESOL Methods and Materials
  • EDL 508 - Applied Linguistics for Teachers
  • EDL 509 - Assessment and Evaluation in the ESL/Bilingual Classroom
  • EDL 510 - Pedagogical Grammar
  • EST 573 - Practicum in TESOL
