Building a strong and sound academic system is one of the cornerstones of ensuring the success of our children. Partnering for Success (PFS) contributes to this challenge by providing professional development for teachers to improve student learning with reform-based teaching strategies and up-to-date content knowledge in mathematics and science.
This unique partnership works due to the collaborative efforts of seven school districts and organizations, including Cleveland Metropolitan Schools, East Cleveland City Schools, Elyria City, Lakewood City Schools, Maple Heights City Schools, Parma City Schools, Warrensville Heights City Schools, Case Western Reserve, Cleveland State, John Carroll universities, and the Greater Cleveland Education Development Center. This fall, we welcome Miami University as a new partner. Its program, iDiscovery, will enhance the online portion of the program.
Designed for third- through tenth-grade educators, the science and math activities aim to increase content knowledge and improve understanding of exemplary teaching methods. Hands-on activities and investigations, including inquiry-based laboratories and small and large group discussions, and online coursework are based on Ohio Academic Standards and led by teachers and professors who have demonstrated best practice techniques in the classroom.
PFS programs are offered at no cost to the teacher or district and contribute to an educator’s quest for highly qualified teaching status. A new cohort, Cohort 3, will commence this summer and we welcome interested individuals.
