This specialization is for educators who wish to develop computer expertise in educational settings. Computer and information technologies can have a great impact on curriculum and instructional design and delivery. Students who choose this specialization will explore existing computer hardware and software and evaluate them in a state-of-the-are laboratory setting. Students in this program will become knowledgeable practitioners in this rapidly expanding field.
This specialization is designed for educators who wish to pursue educational issues as a field of inquiry. Students select a statistical or qualitative approach and apply it to educational problem solving and decision making. The culminating activity in this program is a thesis or project. Thus, it may be an ideal choice for students who intend to pursue doctoral work in curriculum, instruction, or educational foundations.
The program is designed for previously certified teachers seeking Licensure as intervention specialists who teach gifted and talented learners. The multidimensional program provides relevant theories and strategies for meeting the needs of a broad range of gifted learners, including culturally diverse children, females, disabled youngsters, those with special talents and underachievers. The program provides opportunities for individuals with an interest in this expanding field to refine and develop professional knowledge and skills.
The Master in Urban Secondary Teaching in Curriculum and Instruction (MUST) is a selective, field-based graduate teacher education program that prepares secondary teachers who are committed to teaching in urban schools. In response to the critical shortage of secondary teachers, MUST exemplifies the College of Education's commitment to educational professionalism and urban school renewal. In particular, MUST prepares urban educators in the areas of mathematics, science, English, and social studies. The program's goal is to graduate reflective, responsive teachers who are prepared to promote students' learning, while consciously addressing the effects of race, class, and gender on student achievement. MUST graduates will have the knowledge, dispositions, and skills necessary to ensure that their students learn effectively.
Quality Urban Educators (QUE) is a partnership among the Cleveland State University 's (CSU) College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) and the Cleveland Municipal School District (CMSD) to create a pipeline of new teachers that ranges from their recruitment through their preparation and induction, with a focus on cultural competence in urban schools.
