Department of Curriculum and Foundations

Welcome to the Department of Curriculum and Foundations! Our department provides the foundational knowledge necessary for prospective teachers to gain initial licensure and enhances the proficiency of current education professionals. Our faculty have expertise in the following areas:

Curriculum and Foundations (C & F) offers core curriculum courses for the College of Education and Human Services' Undergraduate and Graduate programs, as well as Master's Degree programs in Educational Research, Gifted and Talented Education, and Educational Technology, and an accelerated program, the Masters in Urban Secondary Teaching (MUST). To enroll in any of our programs, please contact Academic Advising.

Special Topics

Dr. Sylvia Rimm will conduct a two-day workshop on the topic “Unlocking Potential: How to Address the Underachievement Epidemic” from 8 a.m. -4 p.m. Monday, June 29th and 8 a.m. -3 p.m. Tuesday, June 30th in the Main Classroom. Participants can earn 1 graduate credit or CEU’s.

Students can complete the following Curriculum and Foundations’ core courses and programs online:

  • Curriculum & Foundations core courses required for all undergraduate and post baccalaureate teacher education degrees and certification programs in the College of Education and Human Services – starting fall semester 2009.
  • Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Gifted and Talented Learners
  • Gifted Intervention Specialist Licensure
  • Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Educational Technology
  • Endorsement in Educational Technology
