Dr. Ralph Mawdsley, Professor of Educational Administration, College of Education and Human Services, and the Roslyn Z. Wolf Endowed Chair in Urban Educational Leadership, has been awarded a Fulbright Senior Specialist appointment in Australia for summer 2009, following upon his appointment in 2005 as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Pretoria, South Africa. The Griffith University Faculty of Education and the Queensland University of Technology School of Law, both in Brisbane, Australia, have elicited his assistance in developing curriculum for Australian school leaders and teacher education students in education law, with specific focus on the legal contexts of the rights of students with disabilities, and appropriate provision for disadvantaged groups. Education law has become such a prominent field in Australia that more specialized courses in Special Education Law and The Rights of Children need to be designed if teachers and administrators are to understand their legal expectations. At CSU, Dr. Mawdsley teaches School Law and Special Education Law, and is the coauthor, with Mark Weber of DePaul University College of Law and Sarah Redfield of Franklin Pierce Law Center, of Special Education Law: Cases and Materials, published by LEXIS NEXIS.
