Managers' Leadership

Know the Way, Go the Way, and Show the Way.

This program has been designed for middle managers, with some experience, to help them improve their effectiveness as leaders and managers. Learn about new trends and how to manage your career and help develop your employees. This program is also good for those who have previously completed the Supervisory Leadership Certificate Program.  For information about Financial Assistance and Discounts click here.

In order to earn this certificate, participants must first complete the core five-day program. Three additional one-day electives must be taken within one year of completion of the core.

Core Program:

Week One: Leading with Emotional Intelligence
EQ, Emotional Intelligence, has been shown to be more predictive of achievement and promotability than advanced degrees or technical expertise. Participants will learn how to cultivate EQ in themselves so that they become influential managers and leaders.

Week Two: Trends in Business and Management
Guest experts will engage participants in discussions about current issues such as global business, legal issues, sustainability, LEAN, and Six Sigma.

Week Three: Leading and Managing Change
Change is inevitable. Managers need to create the right environment for their employees to deal with change. This session will further assist participants to be able to lead change and foster commitment.

Week Four: Advanced Team Building Skills
Gain practice forming teams and working through problems, managing conflict, facilitating team meetings, building trust, and achieving outcomes together.

Week Five: Career and Staff Development Planning for Managers
Managers must know where they are going and what skills they need to develop. They not only need to know this for themselves, they need to know how to assist and mentor their own staff in their development. Create an individualized career development plan that you will use after the program to improve your performance.
