Performance Management: Appraisals, Reviews, and Standards

Why does your organization conduct performance reviews? To award merit increases? To recognize performance that meets or exceeds expectations? To identify performance that does not meet expectations?  Knowing the purpose of the performance appraisal is the first step to conducting a review that empowers employees to succeed. The remaining steps will set the stage for the next 12 months. Come prepared to develop a review of two employees performance: one who is performing above standards and one who is performing below standards. Bring a copy of your organization’s performance review form.
