Care and Selection of Trees, Shrubs, and Ground Covers: Part I

Learn woody plant survival and management fundamentals

Here you’ll learn to identify deciduous trees, shrubs and groundcovers and their use in the landscape. You’ll also be able to recommend what plant materials to use for all types of soil conditions, when to prune flowering shrubs, about woody plant survival, and important information about over wintering and maintenance.

On completion of this course you’ll be able to:

• Define basic landscaping nomenclature
• Identify suitable plantings to solve given problems
• Control common pests by choosing the best materials
• Discuss pruning and pest control theory
• Recommend appropriate plantings, mulches, and fertilizers
• Use plant materials that work together well

Prerequisite: Introduction to Horticulture and Landscape Operations
