Selection and Care of Turfgrass

Emphasis is on residential and small commercial lawns. Learn to select and use turfgrasses and their varieties in this area and establish new seed and sod lawns. Also covered are seed labeling, renovation procedures, and equipment. Explore fertilization, mowing, and pest control.  The scheduling of lawn work in this climate and use of the correct tools, equipment, and materials are discussed.

Prerequisite: Introduction to Horticulture and Landscape Operations

You'll learn to:

1) Identify common turfgrass varieties.
2) Discuss lawn establishment.
3) relate common lawn care and maintenance practices.
4) Describe effective and safe pest control techniques.
5) Diagnosis typical lawn problems.
