Self-Care for Health Professionals

An interactive seminar for learning self-care and self-healing techniques and practices.

Self-care is a vital element in the practice of any healing professional and a basic requirement for sustained practice over the course of a career. Self-care needs are met by seeking balance and harmony between the physiological, psychological, emotional and spiritual domains. This seminar will focus on techniques and practice for self-care, e.g. breathing and relaxation, visualization and mindfulness, and ‘quick-fix’ self-massage that can be easily and quickly used in the work setting. Please be comfortably dressed for practice.

Through this workshop, you’ll:

  • Recognize how one’s professional healing capacity is enhanced through self-care practices
  • Identify complementary modalities for self-care and self-healing
  • Describe issues/situations in the work setting that hazard one’s sense of balance and effectiveness
  • Practice selected exercises for mindfulness, breathing and relaxation
  • Perform selected ‘quick-fix’ self-massage techniques
  • Describe how and when self-care techniques can be used in the clinical setting
