Networking Basics

In this course you will learn the ISO seven-layer model in some detail, especially the lower three layers that are typically implemented by today’s networking hardware. A good thorough knowledge of this information is strongly advised for anyone that will be working with computer networks, and knowledge of this material is assumed on nearly all network related certification exams. This course also introduces you to the basic components of networks as well as the basic concepts of troubleshooting a computer network and how to use the knowledge of the ISO seven-layer model to aid troubleshooting.

Prerequisite: None. 

You'll learn to:

1) Identify resources for networking terminology.
2) Interpret networking standards.
3) Recite networking history and fundamentals.
4) Describe the ISO seven-layer model.
5) Recognize network types and topologies.
6) Employ basic troubleshooting.
