Word 2003: Flyers, Newsletters, Forms and Brochures

Publishing with Microsoft Word

Why purchase and learn desktop publishing software when the program you already use on a regular basis (Word 2003) has many of the capabilities of other more expensive products? Learn to prevent underlines from moving when you fill in an on-line form. Design flyers and brochures that fit into a pocket or purse. Design newsletters with a creative flair.

Intended Audience:
Students who use Word 2003 or earlier version for desktop publishing.

Important note: This is a web-based online course developed and offered by Cleveland State University (Division of Continuing Education). To participate you need to have average web skills, a computer, Internet access, and an e-mail address. All other directions will be provided to you, via email and Blackboard, during the course. You will need to log into the course web site at least once for each of the lessons. Your work and access time will be monitored by the instructor. You must begin the course within the first week of the time period and may request a one week grace period to conclude all lessons if necessary.

Prerequisites:
Proficient with Microsoft Word 2003 or earlier version. Not for new MS Office users or Word 2007 users!

At the conclusion of this conference participants will be able to:

  • Make a publicity flyer
  • Design a multiple-column newsletter with graphic elements and photographs
  • Create fill-in-the-blank forms with stationary underlines
  • Produce a tri-fold brochure, suitable for schedules or telephone lists
