Acrobat Professional: Introduction

This course will teach students how to use Adobe Acrobat Professional to create PDF documents from within Acrobat as well as other programs, create headers, footers, bookmarks, and links, ensure that PDF documents are accessible, apply password security, digitally sign, validate and encrypt PDF files, initiate a review, and create a comment summary file. Students should be comfortable using a personal computer and Windows XP, but should have little or no experience using Acrobat  Professional.

You'll learn to:

  • Identify the benefits of PDF, navigate PDF documents using bookmarks and links, search PDF documents, open and organize PDF documents by using the Organizer window, and access Acrobat help.
  • Use the Adobe PDF printer to create a PDF document from any program’s Print command, use the PDFMaker to create a PDF document from Microsoft applications, and use the Create PDF commands in Acrobat to create PDF documents from multiple files and from Web pages.
  • Arrange pages within and between documents, modify PDF document text, add headers and footers modify page numbering; move PDF document text and graphics to other programs, and apply password protection.
  • Create bookmarks and modify bookmark destinations, arrange and nest bookmarks, format bookmarks, and create and format links.
  • Prepare a PDF document for review, use editing and markup tools to review a PDF document, organize and view comments from multiple reviewers, digitally sign a PDF document, and validate a digitally signed document.

Unit 1: Getting Started (8:30 am -9:30 am)
Unit 2: Converting documents to PDF (9:30 am – 10:30 am)
Unit 3: Modifying PDF documents (10:30 am – 11:30 am)
Unit 4: PDF document navigation tools (11:30 am – 12:30 pm)
Unit 5: PDF Accessibility (1:30 pm – 2:30 pm)
Unit 6: Document Security (2:30 pm – 3:30 pm)
Unit 7: Document review techniques (3:30 pm – 4:30 pm)

Prerequisite: Students should be comfortable using a personal computer and Windows XP, but should have little or no experience using Acrobat Professional.
