Katherine Kurkov is the sole proprietor of Kurkov and Associates, a consulting company specializing in helping people achieve their communication goals. Starting out at Ohio State University with a B.A. in Communications, she has helped people succeed in academics, business, and industry. In addition, Katherine has also helped organizations develop and implement training programs in both academic and workplace environments. For non-native English speakers she has taught English as a Second Language, Reading, Writing, Grammar, Speech, and Acculturation. Her students have ranged from new immigrants grappling with the basics of survival to Cleveland State’s foreign¬-born teaching assistants who needed to pass state exams. Katherine has also successfully prepared visiting executives and their families to adapt to American culture, both at work and socially.

Developing and presenting Diversity programs approved for CLE by the Ohio Supreme Court added a new dimension to Katherine’s training perspective. She helped American attorneys to learn the basics of cross-cultural communication. Her experience working with native-born Americans is also extensive. At Ford Motors she developed a series of Success Building Blocks to help individuals realize their goals and communicate them to others. Katherine has taught over 20 different types of communication workshops. Since mathematical concepts are also key to communication, she integrated mathematical review in her programs.

Her client base has ranged from Fortune 500 companies to small local businesses. The goal has always been to meet and exceed the expectations of the individual–– whether the client is an executive / union leader looking for assistance with team training, or a single individual looking to improve his or her skills. Katherine believes that active classes and workshops are the key in providing a venue for learning and a path to clear and effective communication.
