Ron graduated from Ursuline College in Pepper Pike with
a BS in Nursing in 1981 and received his MBA from John
Carroll University in 1992.
In 2001 Ron came to UH-CMC as the Vice President of
Medical Surgical Nursing. He decreased the registered
nurse vacancy rate with the 50 nurses in 50 days
promotion. Ron was promoted to Senior Vice President and
Chief Nursing Officer in 2003 and under his leadership
the registered nurse vacancy rate has continued to
decrease, RN satisfaction (measured by the NDNQI) is one
of the highest in the nation and UH-CMC received Magnet
Status. In June of 2006, Ron became the Senior Vice
President and General Manager of UH-CMC.
Prior to coming to UH-CMC in 2001, Ron was the Assistant
Director of Nursing in the Cardiac Care Unit at
Deaconess Hospital in Cleveland; Unit Manager in the
Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Telemetry Unit,
and Administrative Coordinator for Trauma and Critical
Care at Metro Health Medical Center, Cleveland; Regional
Manager for Medicine and Medical Specialties with Kaiser
Permanente, Cleveland; and Regional Vice President of
Operations for CIGNA Health Care, Midwest, USA.
Ron lectures in the Division of Continuing Education –
at Cleveland State University; is a visiting professor
with the Breen School of Nursing at Ursuline College;
and is a Clinical Instructor of Nursing with the Frances
Payne Bolton School of Nursing in Cleveland.
He holds membership in Sigma Theta Tau, Iota Psi,
American Organization of Nurse Executives, Association
of Military Surgeons of United States, Greater Cleveland
Organization of Nurse Executives, NEONI and Ohio Nursing
Association.
Ron is a colonel in the United States Army Reserves and
serves as the commander of the 307thth Combat Hospital
in Columbus, Ohio. He has been awarded the U.S. Army
Meritorious Service Medal and numerous Army Commendation
Medals. His professional military achievements include:
a graduate of Senior Service War College and the U.S.
Army Command and General Staff College.
In addition, Ron served on the Board of directors for
the Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland from 1997-2001, is
on the Legislative Committee for NEONI and currently is
on the Alumnae Board for Ursuline College, the Greater
Cleveland Health Association and Ohio Organization of
Nurse Executives.
