
Kim Kingzett Behm RN, BSN, CDE, received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Duke University. She has been a Certified Diabetes Educator since 1987 and has been working in the field of diabetes in the Cleveland area for over 20 years. She has been a diabetes educator at Hillcrest Hospital and most recently at University Hospitals of Cleveland. As the nurse manager of the high risk diabetes and pregnancy clinic, and the outpatient nurse educator at UH for 10 years, she also was a research nurse in two major NIH diabetes studies at CWRU: the DCCT in the 1990’s and the current ACCORD trial for type 2 individuals. In 2003 she was selected as one of the UH “Nursing Clinical Excellence Award” recipients. She has served the diabetes community by being on the Board of Trustees, as a volunteer camp nurse and benefit chair for Camp Ho Mita Koda (a camp for children with diabetes).
Kim has been a volunteer for the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland for most of her career--as a conference speaker at lay and professional symposiums, a member of the Education committee, and as a fund-raiser. Kim is a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators and was an officer of the local Northern Ohio Chapter (NEOAADE). She is a speaker at local diabetes support groups and co- founded the Chagrin Valley support group. Kim currently is employed as a Clinical Manager for the Animas Corporation, an insulin infusion company, responsible for educating patients and their families, health care professionals and the community in the area of intensive management of diabetes.
