Course Description

 

The Human Resource Certification Preparation Course is designed to provide you with an overview of key areas in human resource management. Materials include six modules that correspond to the six functional areas, responsibilities, and associated knowledge as defined by the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI). The program is offered in cooperation with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as study material for the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification examinations administrated by HRCI.

Besides being a powerful tool to assist you in preparing for the PHR or SPHR certification exams, the Human Resource Certification Preparation Course also provides professional development for you and your HR Department. The course provides a solid foundation for managing the HR challenges you face in today's demanding work environment; it supplies a current reference of HR practices, broadens the perspective of functional specialists, and strengthens individual competencies and productivity.

Schedule

 

To accommodate students faced with the complexity of today's work schedule, we have increased our offerings this year. Three separate Human Resource Certification Preparation Courses will be offered: one on Monday nights, and two on Saturdays.

All three sessions are comprised of one 2 hour orientation, six 4 hour classes, and one 4 hour review.  Materials are included in the cost of the class, and will be distributed during orientation.

Note: The 4 hour review session will be held at Main Campus on Saturday, December 13, 2008 from 9am to 1pm.

Fall  2008

Monday Evening Class - West Center, Westlake, Ohio

• Orientation: September 8, 2008 from 6pm to 8pm
• Class Dates:  September 15, 29, October 27; November 10, 24; December 8, 2008
• Class Time: 6pm to 10pm

Saturday Class - East Center, Solon, Ohio

• Orientation: September 13, 2008 from 1pm to 3pm
• Class Dates:  September 27; October 11, 25; November 1, 15; December 6, 2008
• Class Time: 9am to 1pm
• Registration Deadline: September 5, 2008

Saturday Class - Main Campus, Cleveland

• Orientation: September 6, 2008 from 9am to 11am
• Class Dates:  September 13, 20; October 4, 18; November 8, 22, 2008
• Class Time: 9am to 1pm
• Registration Deadline: August 29, 2008

Review Session for ALL CLASSES:
December 13, 2008 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., Main Campus

PHR & SPHR Certification Test Window: December 1, 2008 - January 31, 2009

Fees

Tuition for the course is $1045. Cleveland State University Alumni and members of SHRM or CSHRM pay a discounted tuition of $995.

Course fee includes six workbooks, online access and a certificate of completion.

Certification Information

Please note that to earn either the PHR or SPHR designation, candidates must have at least two years of exempt-level experience in the HR field. If you have questions or wish to register for the PHR or SPHR exam, please visit www.hrci.org or call 800.283.7476.

Refund Policy
