STUDY ABROAD

Study abroad is a rewarding and life-transforming experience that complements any business program. Companies seek managers who have core business skills, a multi-cultural understanding, and the ability to ascertain the implications of geopolitical events on their business. Building such international competence is an incremental process that for many people begins in college and continues throughout life in virtually any career.

Explore the world during your college career by living in other cultures and gaining second language skills while continuing the course of your studies.

Study Abroad Program Options

Direct Exchange program: allows you to study abroad with any one of our partner universities while paying your usual tuition to CSU. Partner universities are located in:

  • Chile
  • France
  • Germany
  • Hungary
  • Spain
  • Sweden

Use our Comparison Chart to assess the offerings and attributes of the various partners to determine which destination best fits with your lifestyle and career goals.

Independent Exchange Program: allows you to enroll directly in a foreign university of your choice. In some cases, students will need to enroll through another U.S. institution.

Short-term Group Programs: study tours led by College of Business faculty which range from 2 to 4 weeks in duration. This year’s study tours include:

  • International Marketing and Business Research in England
  • Electronic Business with an International Flavor in Germany

Academic Credit

Students who participate in the Direct or Independent Exchange program can take the equivalent of 18 credit hours and receive transfer credit, but not grades. These courses can count towards the completion of the BBA degree requirements. Participants in the Short-term Group Programs receive graded credit.

Language Skills

It is not always required that you be proficient in the native language of the country where you’d like to study, as many courses are taught in English. However, keep in mind that one of the most important benefits of studying abroad is to become proficient in a second language. Language foundation classes are part of the course offering at some of our partner universities.

Testimonials

Cleveland State University gave me the wonderful opportunity of experiencing the European culture while helping me gain an international marketing internship working for the Nordson Corporation in Cologne, Germany; the knowledge that I obtained from my European experience could not have been taught in any classroom at any University and was the most culturally enriching experience of a lifetime." –Ryan Kiddey, INB Major, Summer 2004.
