Points of Pride

Walter F. Senney

Mr. Walter F. Senney is an alumnus of Cleveland State University having earned his BBA in Marketing in 1978. While still a student at CSU, Wally worked at Met-Chem, Inc. in customer service. He was hired by Met-Chem upon graduation and within eight years he purchased the company from the retiring owner. Wally transformed the company from a manufacturers' representative for liquid filtration equipment into a successful manufacturer of industrial filtration products. Over the years, Met-Chem has acquired complimentary companies to add to its group of process equipment and replacement parts suppliers.

Wally played on the CSU tennis team and is an avid runner and extreme sports enthusiast, having run in over 20 marathons and participated in Ironman competitions. He also has been very generous in helping others in need, as evidenced by his philanthropic leadership role at Lutheran West High School, where a new performing arts center is named for him. Wally has also participated in missions work in Haiti where he helped build an orphanage and school for homeless children who were victims of Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

Wally has been a long-standing supporter of CSU through his gifts to the College of Business and Athletics Department. He is appreciative of the opportunities that his CSU education has afforded him and gifted a scholarship in support of College of Business students to build on his long history of consistent support of the University - and to help other students succeed. His first two scholarship recipients for the Fall 2015/Spring 2016 academic year were:

  • Arshak Asriyan (Finance major, GPA of 3.8, Mentorship Program member)
  • Kristin Rose McCarthy (Marketing major, GPA of 3.6, Mentorship Program member, Cross Country Track)

Joining Wally (pictured at far right in the photo below) in the operation of his companies are his sons Drew and Trey, in addition to son-in-law Jason Verderber.
