Mariah LewisManagement Major wins HR Intern of the Year 2015

Mariah Lewis, Management major not only had the opportunity to serve as a Human Resources Assistant/Intern at Delaware North Sportservice, she was nominated by her employer for the HR Awards and was presented with the award for HR Intern of the Year at the annual event on November 5, 2015.

The HR Awards program, co-hosted by ERC and Cleveland SHRM, recognizes Northeast Ohio's top HR professionals and students demonstrating excellence in the field of human resource management. Learn more about the HR Awards here.

"My interest in the HR field was sparked once I had first interaction with Cleveland State University, Society for Human Resources Management chapter," said Mariah. "Everyone was so welcoming and helpful every step of the way. The advisors and exectuive board members encouraged me to take on Management courses and from there, I found that Human Resources was my passion. SHRM has definitely made me a leader and it has made me the HR professional that I am today."

When asked what she hopes to accomplish in her career, Mariah said, "I hope to accomplish everything that I have ever dreamed of. I hope to go through every role of HR and find the certain branch or specialty that I am exceptionally good at. I am a very hard worker and I hope that I am able to find a great company to trust and teach me everything that I need to know to be great in the field. I hope to one day be the inspiration that other employees or students need to take on a management career."
