On Friday, June 20, 2014, Dr. Tukel and students enrolled in OSM 493/OSM 696 visited the Toledo Express Airport and the Toledo Seaport. The CSU students learned about the transportation services provided by each industry and how those services assist the economy.
The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority operates the Port of Toledo, Toledo Express Airport and Toledo Executive Airport. They are able to provide a large assortment of services to local and global businesses, which include freight forwarding, custom brokerage and a refrigerated warehouse. This makes the airport a great intermodal hub for domestic and international shipments. The airport’s relationship with the port also makes tying in sea cargo and other types of shipments appear to be effortless. Items are routinely shipped to Mexico, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East.
The travel to the Toledo Express Airport and Toledo Seaport proved to be a very engaging experience for the CSU group.
